The Wind River High Route for Gaëtan

The Wind River High Route

After spending a good part of the year concocting itineraries for our hikers in the beautiful Pyrenees, it was time at the beginning of September for me to set off on my own adventure. To do so, I made a little infidelity to our beloved mountains and headed for the Rocky Mountains in the USA, and more specifically, the Wind River range in Wyoming.

That's how I had the pleasure of crossing this magnificent, little-traveled, wild and unspoiled mountain range with a friend. Our itinerary followed the Wind River High Route, an unofficial and regularly off-trail route, navigating between 3000m and 4000m altitude over some 160km, with no human infrastructure along the way: "Wilderness" in its purest form, as we say in North America.

As we hadn't come across many human beings, we had the pleasure of encountering wild animals instead: Elk, Deer, Antelope, Eagles, Osprey, Pikas, Chipmunks, Squirrels, Marmots...
Unfortunately (or not), we didn't meet the Grizzly! Here are a few photos from our timeless adventure:
